Carjacked in Lagos: A Night of Shock (Part II)
My friends and I got robbed in 2010 and I haven't shared the full story yet. This is the concluding part
……however, the first thing that registered in my mind was to kneel……
I reckon Lloyd must've heard "sit down" because, sure enough, after spotting the gun, he promptly took a seat. Do I even need to mention that I was the first one to drop to my knees? Haha, quite funny abi? As I scanned the surroundings to gauge if we were being pranked or something, I noticed L.A. itching to make a run for it... what a fool! They would've beaten us senseless if he did.
So, we were instructed to hand over our watches, chains, phones, and all valuables. Despite being somewhat in shock, I managed to remove my watch, clutched it tightly in my left hand and raised my hands. As the guy searched my pockets, he took everything except my card holder, which he flung back at me. I was immensely grateful because, inside it, I had my black card, Nigerian Express, MasterCard, and other important cards…..(what’s funny)
L.A., being as sharp as me, also held onto his phone and watch in his jeans, while Lloyd kept his money tucked under him. But, since the robber didn't find anything substantial on Lloyd, he received a scorching slap…so sudden that we were all startled. Immediately I just scare say dem go slap me too. Then I heard the guy with the gun repeatedly cocking it, aiming it at Pade, who was unwilling to part with his precious BlackBerry.
Pade finally gave up the phone, and they began to head towards their car. I was about to laugh and tease all my friends for being foolish weaklings when suddenly, they glanced at our car, or rather, my friend's car, and returned to us, demanding to know the owner of the car and the car keys...Lloyd steps forward and is forcefully shoved into the car. Throughout the whole time, there had been a girl inside the car, who witnessed the entire drama unfold. As Lloyd is bundled into the car, they speed off!
Right before my eyes... "Ni waju oju mi..." "Yepa! My guy from way back, my buddy since primary 4, we grew up together... wetin I go tell him mama?"
L.A. immediately calls his brother, who rushes to meet us. So, we lost the car, my friend, the girl, and their watches (theirs, though—I still have mine), phones... *sigh* because of alcohol wey we wan go drink...
Actually, they dropped Lloyd and the girl a few meters away, and they walked back to where we were... the girl, I later found out, had just come to Lagos for the first time... lol... what other way to give her a perfect 'welcome to Lagos' experience... *chuckle* It's been four weeks since then, and I haven't touched alcohol, let alone seen a bottle...
Did we report to the police, yes we did but that is another hilarious story altogether…lol
#Shoutout to everybody that was there that night—'L.A', 'Fele', 'Lloyd', 'Pade', and the girl whose name I never got to know... and everybody that tried to help... 'Diadora' wa gbayi... 'Kunle', props.
